Stinky Cheese Tuesday, July 22nd, 2014

Sorry everybody.  It is crappy cell phone picture time again.  Today was a bit hectic on all accounts.

Today was a bit of a different Stinky Cheese Tuesday.  We did the Great Cheddar Cheese Off with a taste test between three award winning cheddars.  We also threw in a Dietz & Watson “cheese food” to break up the monotony.

Cheddar #1 was Cabot’s Classic Vermont Sharp Cheddar.  This cheddar is a bit on the tangy side without being too terribly sharp.  Nice, smooth texture with a touch of creaminess, this is a cheese to be reckoned with.

Cheddar #2 was Black Diamond Extra Old Cheddar.  This one is aged longer at two years than the others with only one year on the board.  As such, it is sharper, with a slightly grittier texture and small salt crystals in it.  This one is also a mighty fine cheese.

Cheddar #3 was Kerrygold’s Aged Cheddar.  This one is by far the mellowest of the three, with a very creamy flavor and super smooth texture.  Definitely a contender here, as well.

So there you have it.  Vermont vs. Ontario vs. Ireland.  May the best cheese win!

Wrapping things up was Dietz & Watson’s Bacon Horseradish.  Everything Dietz and Watson puts out is processed, faux cheese.  But it is so damned good that you just don’t care.  Their Bacon Horseradish  is delicious!  For those of you State-side, it is like an Arby’s Beef and Cheddar with Horsey Sauce in a single, little bite.  The horseradish is sharp, hot, biting and will clear out your sinuses quite easily.  Combine that with the salty, meatiness of the bacon and it is simply amazing!

Stay Cheesy!
